Sherman Hill track direction orders

Unread postby Ertwander » Sun Mar 27, 2016 7:16 am

Hello,
this is my first serious attempt to create a scenario and publish it on Steam. Therefore it should be very accurate and all...My question is: How are the directional running orders between Laramie and Cheyenne? Is there a specific track for west- and another one for eastbounds? To me, as a German, it would be normal that a train on a double-track railway runs on its right-hand track. That would take an eastbound train out of Laramie on track 2.Don´t know how it is handled in the US.I need a bit of enlightenment :D

Greetings

I don't think there is a standard in America, but for Sherman hill where this is double track trains keep to the left track (normally). At Hermosa Westbound normally takes the low track where east and west bound can take the high track, but in the past that was only eastbound.

The the line that passes through Hariman is almost exclusively run west. It was the "3rd track" built to make the climb easier in the 50s.

That´s some information,thank you.
Unfortunately it turned out i couldn´t let the players train go on either track 1 or 2.I made some westbound traffic entering the yard and timed it very carefully - but always i was told the players path is blocked **!!bang!!**
So the player has to go on track 3 to Hermosa and from there on i put him on track 2 to Granite. If i understand correct, this should be very uncommon?

Anyway, i released the scenario right now. It´s in the steam workshop and i named it "Sherman Hill 1962".If anyone wants to take a look, feel free.
