Can I Change A Timetabled Scenario To A Standard Scenario?

Unread postby FHRob » Sat Dec 06, 2014 8:47 pm

I want to change a timetabled scenario to a standard scenario.

Should this be done in the scenario editor? I don't know how to delete the timetable scenario marker here.

Using RW Tools, where is the line item in the scenario .xml file denoting a timetabled scenario?

Thanks,

Rob :D

By "Timetabled", I'm guessing that you mean a scenario in which the player has to meet assigned arrival time targets that, in TSC's Career Scenarios, are at best unachievable (examining such a scenario in the editor will prove this) and at worst inculcate bad driving habits. These ridiculous goals can be eliminated quite simply:
1) clone the scenario and open the clone in the editor.
2) look at each of the player engine's instructions and eliminate time goals wherever found (the unfortunately outdated Timetable Editor manual will at least show you how to do this).
3) save the clone and test it; if it runs as you wish, you may also want to post it to Steam Workshop as an alternative to the frustrating original.

Here's an even simpler solution: turn off career scoring in the simulator and ignore those obnoxious timings.

Caveat emptor: some scenario writers, including myself, like to use Timetabled scenarios to bring an engine to its driver at the start of a scenario or allow him to change engines during a scenario: altering these will render them undriveable.
