These bookends allow you to lengthen or shorten the section to register your player train has stopped in the correct location.
You'll notice in the "9" screen and the F3 and F4 HUDs the sections are being displayed by the length you define with the bookends.

I am not entirely sure the section registers the red player vehicle only, or any vehicle in the consist of your player train being stopped in the right location.

While playing, you can see. You hit the marker if the distance tot the marker in the HUD disappears. In principle as long as part of the consist is in the marker area, it is considered as correct. Fi if the last van passes the platform marker, you missed the stop. If half of the last van is on the marker, TS says it's OK, but your passengers will nogt be very happy.

I prefer not to use standard stopping markers (most of them are too short), but create my own.

I make them as wide as possible, so engineer can stop the train in any convenient location on the siding, without calculating precise
distance using driving aids HUD
