Put on the brakes.

I suppose you don't really mean "player train".

Making AI trains obey signals on a single track is not so easy.
Search the forums for posts by Old Prof on this topic, he made it work.
He has also posted a demonstration scenario in the file library, this shows that it is possible.

You control the player train.
As Buzz said, just apply the brakes.

Because that is the way Quick Drive works. Player train has priority. QD is designed to allow the player train a clear shot to its destination. If you want adverse signals you will need to learn how to write standard scenarios. Can we move on now?

Oh, this was in a QD scenario?
You should have mentioned that in the OP.

If this is a standard scenario, then set your player train to a reduced priority. This will enable the A.I. to have higher priority which will allow the signal to go red on your track.

And on some routes that actually works... however sometimes on some routes it seems that the priority is ignored.

So if you want a red, place an AI on the track ahead of the player train, give the AI the 'Special' priority, give your player train something lower, like 'standard freight' and it should work.

Who said we were ticked at you? We're all attempting to help but a clear fix has not been found. Priority is weird on single track sections, just have some patience and we might find a fix soon enough.
