If You Are Having Out of Memory issues with TS2020 Try This.

Unread postby trev123 » Mon Sep 23, 2019 3:31 am

Someone posted this on Steam.
Someone sent me an anonymous email yesterday suggesting that I try running TS2020 after I'd physically unplugged my pc from the internet. Sounded like a very strange idea to me but I have just done it and IT'S WORKED!!!!! I actually got a train running. Only tested for a few seconds but it actually worked.

I quit that drive, plugged the ethernet cable back in and then started another quick drive and bam, Out of Memory. Will report this over at DTG forum but in the meantime give this a try, actually physically disconnect from the internet, don't just switch it off in Windows (although I've not actually tested that myself)

Strange indeed.

I still get crashes because of too many Workshop scenarios (I think, DTG never answered to my report). Observing the main screen while the Workshop tab is open I notice it crashes during the Decompressing phase.
I suspect the unzip routine is still broken and throws this Out of memory error since in Windows Task Manager there is no evidence of Railworks.exe eating up all the free memory.
Many scenarios get corrupted by Railworks unzip dll, because the cached .zip files are clean.

That's funny considering after the TS2020 update is the first time I've run out of memory while playing the game. But I've now been running via 64-bit and have had no issues.

Ok its a possible fix but I'm thinking that has to do with the UDP/EDP stuff entrance/exit communications with windows authorizations.

Just my thought

Glad that can fix the problem although.

(In response to TheR62Fan's comment)

I've been noticing it too. But my impression suggests that using the 64 bit version is a no-no.

The out of memory popup randomly occurs when adding to faulty sections of track, and it occurred when I attempted to realign about 40 kms of track at once. Reducing the display quality did help in this regard though.

I'm not sure if it running out of memory is a new thing, or it's just a new alert that 'DTG' decided to implement when the game otherwise would show that infamous message that says 'saved dump (etc)'.

So the internet connection is causing the crashes... What the heck? It seems to do the trick for me though.
