Wasatch Wonderment

Unread postby DigitalRails » Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:09 am

Union Pacific’s famed route through Utah’s Wasatch Range – re-created in the steam-to-diesel transition era of the 1950s – is coming soon to Train Simulator!

A pass from me unless someone makes a modern day update to it, or until Mike's Big Boy gets released.

Both the Challenger and Big Boy have been updated and modified by the developer of the route, Milepost Simulations.

A BIG !*drool*! and !*YAAA*! from me. Might not even swap out the dismals - no promises mind you !*roll-laugh*! To top it off, some appropriate assets to slip into the Sherman '50's route and an updated core being released this week. It is great to have this ongoing continued support.

*!!thnx!!*

!*cheers*!

I hung out on this route for 11 days in May to see Big Boy. It was my first time there and I had a good time. My next batch release of videos is from Echo Canyon and the Lucin Cutoff. I will have them up in the next few weeks.

I'm not gonna get this route right away, but at some point I will. I look forward to hauling some heavy freight up this grade. My guess based on the pictures is that it won't look a lot different than today's route. The pass still uses wood ties to this day (they were installing brand new wood ties on the pass when I was there). And other than the new vader signals, the route is pretty much the same today. They even still have most of the old wooden telegraph/signal wire poles along it.

I'm looking forward to those. It is a really cool area. I saw it for the first time in person last year and was amazed by how scenic the area was.

I'm still not sure why anyone is putting a hate on over this. It was and is a pretty serious model.

Oh I forget it wasn't created in the last fifteen minutes.

What is your point? No one should do anything until it’s the absolutely perfect super model? I appreciate the craftsmanship of what you guys and Smokebox have done but I don’t think you should denigrate what others have done through the years to keep this hobby alive. It’s all a evolution that just keeps getting better and better.

I will repeat “ Some people find fault like there is a reward for it.”
