Asset List

Today I found a way to use RW_Tools to make a list of all my collected rolling stock and Locomotives. I saved it as an Excel file and when putting together a consist this makes it easy to find a particular rail car by type or road name. This also separates by provider and makes it easy to select the proper asset in the editor. Just highlight the correct column and use Ctrl+F and it highlights all your choices. It listed over 6020 items. There is probably an easier way to do this but this works for me.
EDIT: changed the asset count.

Where are you at in RWTools when you do this highlighting? !*don-know!*

Open RW_Tools and go to Edit Assets/Content>Assets>enable.bin filter>Check the box rolling stock only. Then push add to list button. This will take some time to run. When done select save list. You will be able to see this in the reports tab as a .csv file. Do not open it here, instead drag this file to your desktop. Open the file, name and format your columns ( format using auto fit column width) and delete or hide those columns not needed and save as a .xlxs or .xls file. If not automatically alphabetized you may need to sort as well before saving.
EDIT: Boxes to be checked

Here is what it looks like. I would suggest that you protect the file so you can't accidentally edit it. You are welcome to use this.

I am not in RW_Tools, I am in the Excel document that I created. I should not have said highlighted. While in the Excel assets document select the Name column then use Ctrl+f and select find all and the results show in the dialogue box. Clicking on the individual item will bring you to that line in the document and show the provider, and pathing for the file.

Hi,
How did you include rolling stock assets from the .ap files in your excel spreadsheet?

It's not quite as straightforward to produce the index of assets contained in the .ap files, but still doable following the onscreen instructions in RW Tools. Listing the .ap assets is a bit more longwinded & I was hoping you might have found a shortcut.

Using RWTools to list all your assets ( those inside and outside .ap files) you will get 2 .csv files to import into Excel. You can keep these as separate spreadsheets or merge them if you want.

Once in Excel and showing just the data columns you want to see, you can highlight the whole spreadsheet and use the data sorting and filtering functions in Excel to re-order the data in any way you want. I tend to sort my rolling stock index files primarily into Category ( diesel, electric , steam, etc.) then alphabetically by Provider and then Name.

I have used the same method to list some other TS 201x assets such as Road Vehicles.
