Help please!

The game opens to the "loading screen" before the main menu, and the text at the bottom says "v66.1b Updating Scenario Database..." and it won't go any farther past that. I have tried waiting (30 minutes at one point), I have tried verifying the game files, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and nothing has worked. Anyone have any suggestions?

Suggest you use RWTools and check that you don’t have 2 scenarios with the same name. If you do change the name of one (e.g. add a number to the end). Then try a relaunch from a complete reboot.

Search the forums for how to use Logmate to generate a log.
Post the log so we can have a look and try to help.

A better tool for this is this script:
RWDBFDup: a script for finding duplicate scenario GUIDs.

Not the same name, but the same ID.

OK, I've tried running the script, but it wants to go to the C drive, which doesn't have a Railworks folder. When I try to change the route to the drive with the railworks folder, and select the railworks folder, it tells me that it isn't a writable file. I have no idea wtf I'm doing here, tbh, I am not very computer literate.

Your path should say something like 'your drive'\ 'maybe some here'\Steam\steamapps\common\Railworks
Mine for instance says I:Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Railworks
Have patience, we'll get you sorted out.

Looks like a permission problem.
I'll look into it.
Are you on Windows 10?

I just posted a new version of the script, which maybe will get you further.
Download it again from the same link as before.

Can you find that file by following the path? If you can leave the folder open delete it and then restart TS and see if it puts a new one in there. It should do that. If it doesn't we are going to need to run the verify local files.

It's the same error message as before, but not the same file.
Last time the script was trying to find c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Content\SDBCache.bin.
Now it's D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\SDBCache.bin.
You just have to find the file SDBCache.bin and tell the script where it is.

I don't see that in the Content file. All I have are the following
Routes folder
ConsistTemplates
PlayerProfiles.bin
TMCache.dat
TMCache.dat.MD5

Forget about the extra routes I have stored there and the Routes.exp the rest of the stuff should look like this. It appears that the game is hanging at the point where it would be loading these bins. Have you run another verify local files? The last time I had this issue I had missing files and after a verify it loaded OK.

that was the first thing I tried, and Steam says all files verified successfully.
Both of them...
