US Vehicles?

Unread postby jlms48 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 12:11 pm

Anybody know if there are any scenery models of iconic US vehicles for TS2019/Railworks?
I am thinking of things like a yellow school bus , Greyhound bus, Fire Truck, Yellow Cabs, police cruisers, Hummers, stretched limos etc - I am sure you can think of others.

Included with Zawal's MRL route, you can find an older model Greyhound Bus. I believe it's the Scenic Cruiser. Also, a few DTG routes include school buses and police cars like the RSC Penn Coal, DTG Miami to West Palm Beach, Barnez Chicago Racetrack, etc. Most city routes like New York to New Haven, New Jersey Transit, and others have taxi cabs.

I would be interested in seeing a few Ford truck models for the sim. Love Bumpside (1967-72) and Dentside (1973-79) Fords..!

Feather River has a nice school bus. There are several of these in RCAP. I know I have a firetruck a ambulance and some other stuff somewhere. I'm off today so I'll poke around and see what I can find. Most of that stuff in free since the only payware we are using on the MRL is Marias Pass and I don't think I used any scenery vehicles from there.

I was not aware of these assets. Along with more vehicles,I can now populate my trackside municipal swimming pool with the available people.

Yes, you want to get the 2 DLC routes from Steam, idealy in the Easter Sale, Sherman Hill - which includes such things as a Police Chevy cruiser complete with flashing lights, US Mail Truck, Ambulance, SUV Jeep, Concrete Mixers, Front Loader, Excavator and a Mining truck and the Penn Coal District which has things like a School Bus, Step Van, Flatbed Truck and a Yellow Taxi amongst others included in the vehicle folder.

CCNG 04.jpg

For replicating the 50's (and sometimes earlier), some of the European models can represent a few of the more obscure American brands such as Nash-Rambler, Packard, Willys, and such (see drive-in pic). They tend to be a lot smaller than their US counterparts; so in the route builder, I use the scaling-tool to up-size them a bit. I also use this tool to down-size the notoriously huge '55 Chevy Belair found in a few payware dlc's (HSC, FR, NS Coal, etc). Another good source is the RWA Lakeside; it's a really nice route and comes with some fine models by Wayne Campbell (i,e; Buick Roadmaster, early Fords, Chevies, Pontiacs). I used those autos to replace all the model-T's on the Clear Creek NG route (featured in pic with Wayne Campbell's "Thompson's Corner Grocery"). Btw; the Maria Pass route also includes a unique Great Northern bus.

If any developers are reading, it would be great to see some some hi-poly dedicated vehicle packs (including traffic lofts) for various eras. Planes, trains, and automobiles (and ships) go a long way toward putting a route into it's intended time period; I think there would be quite a few sales for such a product. *!!wink!!*

RudiJaeger, where did you source the road loft in the bottom image?

The alpha channel/mask blends in rather well with the terrain compared to any road lofts I've made so far. Is it ScaleRoad or something else? If it's not, who created it?

Everything in the shot (including roads) is the stock Clear Creek Narrow Gauge except for the addition of the people and dog, and Wayne Campbell's grocery store (RWA Library), and his autos from the RWA Lakeside (payware).

TrainSim site has quite a few U.S. vehicles. Also there is a great selection of mid 1960's and 1970's cars if you desire to have your route before the Class I giants took over a lot of the local rail companies. You will need to resister to download but no worries, it's free and I never receive spam from the site.

RCAP (Railworks Community Asset Project) download available at Railworks America File Library has a great collection of commercial semi-truck and some smaller vehicles.

Also the Maine Maritime Route available from G-TraX, and downloadable at Railworks America File Library, has a great selection. This download makes available the vehicles once only available if you owned any G-TraX payware routes. This is a very generous offering from G-TraX. Chevy, Ford vehicles and a great selection of commercial trucks. Ford pickups seem to be the rule but that is okay because one actually come with a camper shell on the back of it.
