Thought to ask you now about the upgrade program of Train Simulator 2019. Is that true when the program upgraded to 2019 from 2018 or older and all third party contents and assets will be disappear. If yes, then I better make a backup for this before October 11th, 2018.

I've been through every upgrade so far and never lost third-party assets or had them disappear.

Thank you for your reply but I can't remember where I see the message about this and prefer to be safe than sorry for losing all third party routes and rolling stock. I think that I will go ahead to make a backup copy of Train Simulator 2018 Contents and Assets just in case they wipe out the third party routes and rolling stocks.

Nothing will disappear the 32-bit version of TS 2019 will run all DLC that you mow have installed, and DTG have guaranteed that all present DLC will work in the 64-bit version of TS2019.

To do with TS 2018 content

Absolutely nothing will happen to your content. It will all continue to work in 32-bit and will also work in 64-bit too. There’s nothing you need to do. Train Simulator 64-bit will just work with all of your content from 32-bit and some of it might even be more stable overall – though we’ll need to monitor this, and you can help us by telling us how you’re getting along.

Back up your full Railworks folder before October xx and be happy after that.

An interesting piece of information from ChrisTrains over on the German website News section -

TS2019 comes out in two weeks time. Some beta testers have made me aware that the change to 64bit is breaking a lot of the script files, including my license protection and potentially the LUA scripts for things like ATB and ETCS. I will try to get new installers and patches ready before release, but please be aware that there is a very good chance that ChrisTrains products will not work with TS2019 on release day.

I wonder if there will be any anomolies, especially with payware content from our 3rd party developers in North America, Europe and the UK, I don't think anybody can be too confident in what will happen after TS2019 is released, the only sensible thing to do is BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP......

The only intelligent thing to do is back up every day.

That would be 5 or 6 hours for me.

There are smart backup solutions, using a NAS with its special software that allows incremental/differential backups etc.

Given the change to 64 bits involves a lot of core files, a complete backup to an external HD seems the best and cheapest option.

I use a Western Digital Passport external SD that does its own backup every night without me doing anything.

I use the free software "Syncback" as a smart backup solution.
It has a scheduler, an error log, incremental backups and complex filters.
There is (was?) a free version.
