The lack of MSVCR100D.dll (which can be downloaded) is only a problem related with the Crash sender, but not the TS2019 crash itself. It has to be in this folder:
...\RailWorks\data\CrashReport\x64 so I downloaded and installed it there.
I don´t know yet the reason of the TS crash and I haven´t been able to replicate the crash or know the cause of it (route, train, AntiAliasing setting, etc)

Yesterday, I had the same error message while doing a simple route cloning - yet, with RS-Tools the cloning worked ''sans problèmes'' !*don-know!*

Well, a few months later............

Still hanging at startup.
Verify still says there is an issue.
Reload.

Have been through this endlessly.

Have reinstalled the lot twice.

Same issue.

Dovetail support - the least said about this better. I have just returned from the UK - had I taken my PC I would have gone round and camped on their doorstep.

So, for the moment I am kissing TS goodbye.

The time I have spent trying to get this to work I will now devote to dealing with Dovetail - there are tools such as the Consumer Act. I also have a friend who is a UK Advocate and likes this sort of thing, so he will jump on the bandwagon as well.

If anything interesting comes out of Dovetail I will let you guys know.

Otherwise, I will pop in from time to time to touch bases.

----------------------------

In the meantime, I am trying to save for a new PC so I can move to Run8 - but a bit pie in the sky at the moment the way finances are!

I wish all the good luck in the world however just so you realize there are thousands and thousands of us out here that are running this every day with no problems.

Yes, there are people that run it without problems. I run it without problems.

One isn't looking for fault at least I'm not. He was inferring that this was some problem that was caused but DTG, their lack of support or something therein. There isn't fault with computers just ones and zeros that don't add up correctly to do their job. As I said I hope he gets it figured out as I'm fairly sure there is a remedy somewhere on here that's already been suggested. Remember the definition of insanity is making the same mistake over and over and expecting different results. If re-installing the whole thing a couple of times assuming it was done properly didn't fix things then the problem lies well outside of the game somewhere.

I had a similar problem. I finally removed all files from my system and then downloaded the whole 100+ GB set of DLC again (over the course of a week) and then it worked fine. Has worked fine since.

So, if you are reinstalling, don't keep anything at all. No files or preferences or anything. Download as if you just bought it new.

Griphos and PNWR - thanks for your comments and input.

----------------

Buzz, I do realise there are "thousands and thousands" of people running it without an issue.

But perhaps my explanation was not clear. So.....

1. Aside from trying a heap of everyone's suggestions (yes, I did read the other posts) I did two complete reinstalls from scratch.
2. Nothing, nothing, changed on my machine from before to after the upgrade!
3. I work in IT so I have the necessary skills to troubleshoot with a degree of competence.
4. The same machine I have TS on is used for my work - TS is the only non work software on the machine. It is clean and well maintained. I rolled back and the old TS worked. Going forward - same result.
5. I spent nearly two months on the issue on and off.

So, the logical thought is that when the upgrade does not work this is due to an effect from the upgrade and its relationship to my hardware, software or settings. Possible compatibility with my machine? Compatibility with software? A clash with something. Who knows.... If the cause can even remotely be pointed at, I can then go buy a new machine, change something, deinstall something, whatever....

This leads right onto my issue with Dovetail. It is quite simple. Given the above they may be the one lot of people able to assist me further. But do they assist? Nope. Do they even respond - nope. And this is not the first time.

AT THIS STAGE I CANNOT PROCEED FURTHER WITH IDENTIFYING THE CAUSE WITHOUT FURTHER HELP, AND DOVETAIL DOES JUST NOT RESPOND.

So the fact they are not supporting their product in any way in my case, gives me ample grounds under the Consumer Act to approach them in a different manner.

If they were to attempt to even briefly assist I would be happy. But I do not like companies that take my money and then ignore me if I have a problem. I will not accept this type of approach. I am not happy to sit back if this happens to me.

As far as I am concerned it is a simple matter of principle, related to the fact that I have used Dovetails channels to ask for a bit of help - which they profess to provide - only have repeated requests ignored.

Why is this? What makes them different from any other profit making company when it come to their support?

----------------------

Maybe this is now all clearer.

Lastly, in the past Buzz and many others have helped with suggestions re TS - this I have always appreciated - and this does not have to turn into an issue on the forum.

In my earlier post I was updating my status quo for anyone interested and explaining what I would be doing if anyone was interested.

Enough now.

Fi all, it's nearly Christmas time - so let me end by wishing you all the very best for the Festive Season. Drive carefully and enjoy, and may you all have very many happy hours with your family and friends. Count your blessings, be generous, try and help those less fortunate and see if you can put a smile on everyone's face!

That sounds like your problem right there. What are your specs? A work spec computer really won't give you gaming enjoyment. You also wouldn't be cluttering up your gaming rig with work stuff.

Just what I thought. A work computer may be an Intel i3 or similar which is not suitable for running TS really and probably the onboard graphics on such a system wouldn't be any good either.

Rich and Trevor - thanks for the comments/input.

While it is not state of the art, I don't think the laptop is terrible. It ran TS fine up to the last update, with decent frame rates (forget what exactly now)

    Lenovo.
    i7 6500u dual core
    12 GB memory
    Radeon R5 M335 Graphics card - 4GB memory
    64 bit.
    Latest Windows 10 installed.
Programs installed - Office, Mail Client, Various graphics programs, Flowchart, and Project programs. Norton. Photo editors.
And once upon a time Steam and TS.

As I mentioned, because I use it for work (I am a self-employed consultant) I am careful with what's on it and what I do with it. TS was the only game I put on.

It's not a big deal that it does not run now - plenty of other things for me to devote my time to, including the real thing! My friend in the UK is now busy raising the matter (via a legal route) with Dovetail, so will just await the outcome of this one day!

------------------------------------------

AmericanSteam - thanks for the link. I have looked at Steamdb, but never really at TS there.

Looking at the TS stats I actually do not think the usage is that great - today it's showing a peak of 2,590 out of an all-time high of 3,821 4 years ago!

I assume that is based on the Steam sessions?

Steamspy estimates owners to be 500,000 to 1,000,000 - taking the lower estimate this means that less than 0.52% of owners are actually playing in a 24 hour period, 0.76% of owners in a four year period. It is not clear if you logged on and off more than once on a 24 hour period if you would count at two users - assume this is not the case.

---------------------------------------------

Hope you all had a great Festive Season and had plenty of time to yourself to run trains! Assuming that's what you wanted to do over your break! It was overly hot here - 95%F on average, so was too hot to actually do anything!

That CPU is only 2.5ghz while the recommended minimum for TS is 3.5ghz. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp ... 40+2.50GHz

You're right, but that shouldn't be a problem. Even my laptop, which isn't up to date anymore (i5-3320M @ 2.6ghz + GT650M) can handle TS with about 30+ fps if you don't max out the details at full hd.

But if you have a slow GPU you should always play in fullscreen or you'll loose performance.
