Looking very nice! I feel like we lack a lot of freeware fantasy routes on Train Simulator that look legit and is done properly, and you guys have absolutely nailed both of those points just by looking at the screenshots! Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Matt
It is in Steam Workshop and there are now at least 3 scenarios as well.

This is a winner in my book. It's a relaxing no stress run. Maybe as service quality increases, the branch might attract an ethanol facility?

It would also be cool to see periodic updates where the route develops over time. For example, the start of a Safetran signal installation at one of the sidings. Place out of service Safetran signals with the heads turned, along with signal maintainer trucks and other construction equipment. Follow up with another update with the Safetran signals cut in, and the older color light signals removed. Or add a 10 mph slow order over a switch or crossing. Just little changes to keep the route fresh and keep interest in the route.

I agree I think the route would be amazing if it reflected evolution similar to any other midwestern NS branch.

Sorry, but please explain. Do you mean it might not be bang up to date? Bang up to date could mean abandoned! No interest in that, no operational interest at all. If not abandoned very restrictive in traffic, no shuttle grain trains here therefore it means short line or maybe nothing. If it is a short line you want, imagination can be enlightening.

A couple points:

- Yes, the route is somewhat patterned after an NS line, but as is detailed in its description, the real purpose of the project was to create a "representative" Midwestern line useful as a home for various railroads and equipment.

- As a Workshop published route, it is limited to assets available via existing Steam-distributed routes.

I hope I did not offend or say anything wrong. !!**sorry**!!

What I meant was not specifically saying only NS equipment can run on it. I think it looks good for any other railroad. I also understand what you mean by Steam assets and I have no problem with it being a workshop route. I am thinking of making my NEC 2.0 workshop as well.

I was simply agreeing with what cnwfan said, "It would also be cool to see periodic updates where the route develops over time." Just like how signals are replaced, PTC and other safety systems make their way onto the branch line, or even other infrastructure improvement, if you understand what I mean. !*cheers*!

With the existing DTG library of assets, I'm sure the branch could support additional industry and other various line side changes. My main point was (and still is) change keeps interest alive. By introducing regular changes into this Workshop route, or for that matter any route, it keeps users interested in the route. More interest... more Workshop scenario development. Adding industries... more Workshop scenario development. Add a 10 mph slow order over a switch or crossing for a month, then come back and remove it. It is not only the obvious changes, but also the subtle changes that matter.

Prototype routes are anything but static. They are constantly changing and evolving. I'm merely suggesting that change / evolution be introduced and cultivated in this route as a way to keep interest and development alive.

No, you most certainly did not offend nor say anything amiss, I was just sharing the purpose I had in mind for the route and the limitations involved in a Workshop-based route.

I very much enjoyed building the route and hope others enjoy operating on it, but I do not anticipate further changes or additions to it. On to other projects ....

I have only just found this Route, and as soon as I noted who the builder was, I was quick to grab it and a couple of Scenarios (so far).
I've run one of Gary's and the Great Northerner one so far and thoroughly enjoyed them. Looking forward to running more.
Thanks for sharing this well designed Route Gary.
Cheers, Warren
