Peninsula routes

Unread postby JohnT » Sun Jan 06, 2019 8:32 pm

Hi all,
on spotting a rare WS scenario for the Pen -Gilroy route, decided to install and try it out.First time, in a long time, at least the first time since 2019 came out for this route to get opened. Suffice to say, after waiting for 15-20 mts for the route to load came to the conclusion it wasn't going to happen. Then went to the route folder and removed everything bar the .ap file. Tried to load again, same problem. Next move was to untick the route in the Steam library and then reload(retick) tried again, same problem.
To-night I tried the Pen-San Jose route and again the same result. As I have split American,European and UK routes into seperate content folders, is it possible that somehow this is the cause of the problem, i.e reliance on another route required for either of the above to work ?Can I remove all existing folders for these routes and then ask Steam to re-install then from scratch, just in case there are corrupt files in the existing folders that are being problematical. Dont seem to be having problems with other USA Routes.

Run Logmate, perhaps the error will show up.
But it sounds like the game is stuck in a loop, not crashing.

What do you mean you have US, European and UK routes into Separate content folders? Are you say under your Railworks folder instead of having on Contents folder you have three other folders labelled differently than Content?

I think you'll find he renames the Content folder depending on which one he wants to use. The idea is to reduce the number of scenarios that TS2019 is loading to begin with, speeding up boot-up time. Several people have adopted this process.

John - Route dependencies relate to Assets in other DLCs - i.e. in the Assets folder, never for anything in the Content\Routes folder. But the SF-Gilroy Route is self-standing anyway (as with all primary DTG/Steam products) and doesn't have dependencies on other DLCs. So the way you keep routes in separate folders will not be the cause.

I can say personally that I have no problem loading the Gilroy route or running scenarios on it. As you have already done they uninstall/reinstall thing, I don't know what to suggest I suggest, as long as you made sure with that reinstall that it was a completely "clean" install with no other resudual files hanging around (not just in the route folder, but in the DTG\Gilroy folder). (When I do that, I rename the existing folders to retain them temporaritly anyway, and to ensure that the new installation goes into newly created and clean folders)

Hi Chris,
thanks for the reply, and your assumption " he renames the Content folder depending on which one he wants to use" is correct. For clarification the contents folders are named Contents_UK,_EU and _USA. So prior to starting Railworks I select which area I want visit and remove the _*** from its relevant Contents folders names. Also just as a precaution when downloading scenarios I ensure the right area Contents folder is in operation, prior to installing the additional content.
Success regarding my original problem, following your advice. Renamed the Assets/DTG - Cal Train and Gilroy folders and the Contents ...0072-....2016 & 0078 ...2017 by adding ORIGINAL to their title. Then unticked the entrys in the Steam Library DLC Listing, then followed a moment of panic. Those entrys immediatly vanished from the listing, I was then perplexed as to how I could re-tick them and hence re-install a vanilla version of these routes. On deciding to scroll through the entire listing of DLC, which contains virtually all of the available DLC from way back to Rail sim days, I was relieved to see these appear greyed out now at the top of the list. On re-ticking they then went back to their respective original placings on the list, still greyed out but became highlighted once the downloads were complete. I am extremely pleased to report both routes now load and in about 2-3mts on the two scenarios I have tried - one on each route.
So once again, thanks very much for the hints and advice plus interest shown in my problem by all.

Hi John, glad you got it sorted! Regarding those Library items "disappearing" in the list, that's probably because you had it sorted by the "Installed" column - so as soon as they were uninstalled, they jumped to the top of the list (or the bottom if you reversed the order). I recommend you sort the list alphabetically (click the Item column to change the order), then a DLC item will appear in the same place regardless of whether it is ticked or not! If you're looking for something that you know was installed recently, sort by the "Date installed" column to find it more quickly

Hi,
just a note on comparing the "Before" and "After" folders.Spotted this discrepancy in the Asset folder of the problematical version (see attachment).
No idea as to where this additional .ap "PeninsulaCorridorAssets" came from. Except an inkling it might have something to do with an MLWAudio download.

Well I certainly don't have it, but nor do I have any MLWAudio downloads. I see it dates from December 2016. Is there anything inside the .ap file that looks suspicious?

Hi Chris ,
the plot thickens, according to my records. All my MLAudio enhancements were bought 26/04/17 and 18/03/2017. So it would appear that hunch is a "red herring".
Iv'e attached some info on the contents within the respective folders, others may be able to recognise and shed some light on where this folder came from.
As I say the routes now work, so the initial problem now resolved. It remains academic as to how this state came about, of interest but no reason to lose sleep over.

Thanks again JohnT
