Ice and Snow Scenario

I attempted to run this scenario but the train is under powered.
After traveling uphill at around 5 mph at notch 8 for some time it eventually stalled on a 2% grade section before Sandpatch summit.
I think it needs at least one more loco, maybe two.
You won't get the scenario done in suggested time of 3 hours if you are traveling at 5 mph for a long time!

I had the same issue. That's just one of many reasons I have just given up on this thing until they come up with a editor.

John, this is off topic but I am trying to find the rolling stock for NERR and am having difficulty doing it. Would appreciate any help.

I am not complaining, but don't you think it would have been better to PM John instead of posting in this thread? I realize you are trying to get in touch with him.

Hi, not sure if you tried this or not. Try applying sand at startup to get rolling up to speed. It is slow going at first but I finally got her moving using sand.

True, start at N1 and start stretching the train add sand to the front (shift+X) as well and add one notch at a time as the speed drops as you pull out the slack. it will move.

Have to remember the save bug in TSW. Have to run all scenarios start to finish without any saves, they screw up the works. I ran this one without any issues in 2.25 hours and on the grade had a steady 25 mph in run 4 while was in the 1.4 - 1.6% area. Dropped some speed when went to 1.8% but that is near the summit tunnel and I was wanting to drop anyway to get ready for the transition to dynamics on the down grade.

In this scenario the 3 other locos are not put into the right mode, hence you are only driving with your loco doing the work. To fix this do the following. Quote from the Steam Forums.

"I have found that the mission usually (not always) starts with a glitch. You are hauling 3 locos that are basically dead because they have not been set up for MU operation.

To fix this you will need to visit each of the 3 trailing locos and do the following in each cab.
Open the fuse cabinet on the rear bulkhead and turn on the "radio" breaker (top row,far left).
Based on other posts I have seen the following should also be done.
Under the ameter guage are 3 switches; turn them on. Set the reverser to neutral and the auto brake to full service.

BTW after restarting a "save" the glitch might return and you will have to do all that again(again, sometimes, but not always).

If you do a save, it is wise to do it on as little grade as possible, so if you stop, getting rolling again is easier.
Even with all locos working it can still require notch 3 with sanding to get rolling again.
Hope this helps."
