First few screenshots of the Cane Creek branch have cropped up. From where, I have no idea; there hasn't been any article as of yet, and I've just nicked them off a post on the DTG forums.

It honestly looks pretty good, here's hoping for an actually good TSW route for once.

-edit, so as not to double post, here's some more screenshots

Route looks amazing, although the service mode is definitely going to be what holds me back on this. A once-a-week run from the branch to the mine doesn't exactly make for riveting gameplay, but hey - at least it'll be through some dramatic scenery. edit - definitely didn't see me double post those screenshots.

You are perhaps unaware that in addition to the turn to Potash, this line has regularly hosted daily 'dirt train" runs to/from Moab. The route will offer some excellent "gameplay" opportunities.

Wasn’t aware that Skyhook were also making the weird containerized spine flatcar hoppers they use on that run. Documentation is pretty slim, probably because the Department of Energy doesn’t really like handing over materials related to anything radioactive. Would be pretty curious to see if these cars were included where they got specs from.

Landscape rendering in UE4 is class of course.

Here in some info on creating a route for TSW2: https://skyhookgames.com/case-study/dovetail-games/

From announcing a laughable "lawn mowing simulator" !*roll-laugh*! to these shots cropping up, surprises from them left and right

Looks flat out stunning. I dont know which looks better this or CRR.

Good times ahead for N.A. tsw-ers hopefully

The scenery looks spectacular:

But what can be played on this proposed DLC?

Not a whole lot, which is the kicker. There's two regular trains, a weekly potash train that runs the whole length, and a uranium tailings train that runs from Moab as far as the junction with the Green River Sub. With the potash train, there's a little bit of switching at either end of the line to make up the train, while with the uranium run it's mostly point-to-point as the special containers for the tailings are loaded on and off the train via a crane.

Power for both of these trains is usually a pair of whatever 6-axle power is lying around, which makes the choice of an SD40-2 and AC44 for the route logical, if a bit disappointing that no new locomotives are included.

The lack of new content and services is disappointing, but this is probably a route that Skyhook chose for its relative simplicity, to get them used to the TSW2 editor. hopefully this is the case, and we will see another amazingly done route in the works after Cane Creek releases.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to wait and see exactly what the route includes and what range of scenarios and services are included before buying into the gloomy assumptions of one individual.

This is a concept largely lost nowadays to get the facts and then make a judgement. Lost in far more areas than our little simulator world however you are absolutely correct about this.
