If you can find early shots of MSTS2 it's clearly Railworks plus they had screen shots of the Horseshoe Curve that we currently have. Unfortunately the PRR M1a was contracted out and the person who created it was licensed by Microsoft and cannot release it but it's out there.

Kuju was working on the first iteration of MSTS2, which also included content from Cyrus Lum. The second version of MSTS2 (MSTS2+2?) was entirely in-house by ACES Studio, creators of the later Flight Sim franchise. I believe both versions contained Horseshoe Curve.

That I didn't know. Thanks for the info.

In the comments on Facebook, someone lined that area up with new York, so I guess that's the Northeast corridor.

It's the NEC. Leaked on SteamDB already.
Gonna put bets on it being at most like 45 miles long and not include enough stock to populate the world prototypically. GP40-2 maybe and probably some Amcans plus ACS-64.

I can say almost 100% positive the two pictures shown are not of the NY area portion of the NEC. I have the New York-New Haven route and the track map looks nothing like that anywhere.

It's becoming pretty obvious that tsw can't handle bigger routes. That or dtg doesn't want to put the effort into detailing more than that. I'm gonna bet most of the routes we are going to get will be that size.

So far, TSW routes have been released at 3 month intervals. If one reasons the TSW route builders work 3 months on a route, how many tiles, miles of track, signals, trees, buildings, etc. can be put down using the (still secret) tools they have at their disposal?

Then perhaps, TSW cannot handle more than a certain number of tiles?

Given the still complete lack of even basic scenario editors, this more complicated little NYC network will offer some more variation in Services mode as far as routing goes. But aren't there incompatabilites in prototype trains and signalling that make random routing impossible or at least unprototypical? What rolling stock can traverse all routes and terminal points?

Without major bug fixing to the existing routes and DLC, do DTG really think this is the right way forward?

Let's face the facts, people will buy this turd anyways, whine about no replayability and lack of appropriate stock, then buy the next DLC they plop out and do the same thing. DTG have no reason to go above and beyond their already low bar of standards.

I doubt it, given the SteamDB numbers of sales and daily player statistics.
I seriously doubt 'to A and Back' will have any lasting appeal. Did any of the locked down Subway series of train driving games fare any better?
Most of us 'old men' want 'to play with trains' like we used to, create our routes, put our own trains on the track and drive them to where we want to go.

Present sales totals can hardly providing any return of investment and the negative trend in discussions about lack of key customer communications, bug fixing and timelines.

DTG should begin to worry what runs out quicker: customer satisfaction and patience or DTG's financial stamina?

Finally, DTG's visit to Amtrak in hindsight proved true, but what about the commuter carriers, and the all important licensing?

They already have NJT and MNCR licensing so there really is no good excuse to not include them.
