Terrain Problem

Hi All,

Having a little problem that I just can't seem to figure out. I finally got route markers working after much hair pulling and had to setup the template to use the ShermanHill Assets. Getting DEM data in was the easiest part.

I have the blueprint setup as follow and ensured to have the Juvu RailSimulatorCore assets enabled. No matter how many cache clears and restarting I do the terrain never shows up
Developer....Kuju
Product.......RailSimulatorCore
BluePrintID....Environment/Terrain/Default.xml

Thanks

HI

I think the last section of your blueprint is incorrect in that it is referencing RailSimulatorCore for the terrain files when this should be just RailSimulator

I went ahead and deleted the test route in the editor and completely deleted my assets folder. I then changed the blueprint to use RailSimulator instead of RailSimulatorCore and did a new export. When I go and build my test route in the editor it's just a black screen. I noticed that the Juvu/RailSimulator assets folder has no Environment/Terrain folder that I'm calling in the blueprint. I would assume that's the reason for the black screen because it can't find any terrain.bin or terrain.xml since they don't exist under that file structure.

Thanks

Hi

You do not normally need to delete any routes or assets to make changes. If you just make the change in the Blueprint Editor and re-export the Blueprint the changes will automatically be made to the assets associated with that Blueprint.

I have looked at your blueprint image again and see that as well as changing the terrain path to RailSimulator, the file you are referencing needs to be changed to Texturing.xml instead of Default.xml. The final part of the path is therefore - Environment/Terrain/Texturing.xml

I'd highly recommend getting rwtools and using that to create your route folders and blueprint.
You shouldn't have to edit the blueprint to get terrain into the game.
Are you using the editors importer for hgt files or are you trying to add usgs terrain files to the folder structure?

Thanks guy. I had been using rw_tools originally to make the developer/product and route blueprint. I then starting trying the blueprint editor and was getting the same result. I had even tried default.XML, texturing.XML and EUtexturing.XML. I the end I ran a verify on the steam files and 60 files failed. Completely reinstalled rail simulator and the textures now show up.

Glad you got it sorted.
I think with the update and patches lately all the files have been getting jumbled about.
Probably not the best week to start a route *!greengrin!*

Thanks Again. Some of these problem might have been related to not having the EU assets.

I'm very new to this but I'm going to try my hand at making the Norfolk Southern B Line or the Virginian Railway line from Princeton WV to Hampton Roads Va. The B Line is easier to see today as it's a working line while the Virginian line is nothing like it was.
