Thanks Trevor, that link was very helpful.
Brings up another question. With the incorporation of "Google" into the RW program, is there any need to generate the decal files with programs such as RWDecal? In one of the routes that I have been working on, I have quite a few decals placed using the RWDecal program. Can I use the RW Google process to place track and objects and delete the RWDecal generated decals?
RWDecal uses Google version 6.1. I assume that RW uses the latest version. Turning on the RW Google while viewing a route with track and objects placed using RWDecal revealed no glaring errors so I Believe that there should be no problems continuing the route using RW Google option and not generating any more decals with RWDecal.
Now if I could only get the process of incorporating DEM's into the routes, I'd be in business.

I think RSC's intent is for this to replace RWDecal. However, my experience so far is that while nice, the GoogleMap integration is not as clear as decals.
I admit I need to tinker more with the settings, but I felt that the detail was blurry & the height over terrain of the overlay was too high for trackwork (or too low to be seen)
It did nicely confirm that my decals are accurately placed tho!

Update: after adjusting the GoogleMap settings, much more useful.
Zoom needs to be quite high. I have it at 19 and the map now appears a bit more clear than RWDecal output. With the higher zoom 7x7 tiles is helpful as with the tighter zoom the tiles become quite small

"Now if I could only get the process of incorporating DEM's into the routes, I'd be in business." From an earlier post.
I aint there yet!
I've downloaded and installed the HGT files in the Dem/strm folder.
I've entered the missing digits in the route properties xml doc.
I've adjusted and fine tuned the Google Earth feature.
For some reason Google Earth doesn't settle on the surface of the terrain. I've tried to lay some track to see what would happen. With the Google Earth turned on, the track is hidden. I've tried to raise the track using RWTools, but that didn't work.
I've cleared the cache and did the file verify procedure. I can't seem to find a procedure or setting that will match the terrain to the Google Map so that I can lay the tracks for my route
Anyone had this same problem? What do I need to do to get this editor to work in a friendly manner?
I aint hav'in fun uet!

The Google overlay seems to rest a few meters above the terrain. Mountainous regions appear to mess with it also.
Aside from that, the solution (so far) seems to be adjusting the opacity & height of the map overlay until it settles in. I haven't seen a real good solution for mountain-y areas as yet.
