Fixing broken track Question

Unread postby robbit » Wed Jul 03, 2013 10:39 am

I have been wanting to fix some broken tracks on a couple routes but have not because I know if I write a scenario for the route and want to pass through the fix then other people will not be able to because the fix is only on my machine. I just downloaded a couple scenarios from the workshop for the Hagen Sagan route and in the comments there is a link for the fixes for the broken tracks on that route. My question is this: If I wanted to make the corrections and then pack up just the fixed pieces how do I go about doing that? I know I just pack the updated .bin file but how do I know which one it is?

Use your date function. Note the newest date of the files in the network folders. Mostly dealing with tracks.bin and a tile file. After you make any changes the date will be the day you did the changes. Then just package the new files up in the correct folder structure. Thats how we built the NERW route. Package the newest items and pass them on to the main route.

OK I have got the fixes done and tested. Works great!
One is for the Horseshoe curve at Portage where the track is broken and stops you from going through on the closest track to the Portage siding to Altoona.

The second one is for the WSOL on the border if you are coming from carlisle going to Castle Douglas on the track furthest to the left and you want to cross to go to the military sidings the track is broken on the crossover.

How and what do I need to do to upload these to the file library: Right now I have them in a .zip file. No .rwp or anything just the folder structure from content on down to the files along with the screenshot of what is fixed.

As a matter of interest, what's broken about the tracks? Is this where the train path can't continue despite there being nothing visibly wrong with the track?

Just wondering.

I may sit beside you all the journey through,
Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

There is on the HSC at Portage. I reported that long ago, but it never got fixed. Have not run the toher route much yet. Ther track just needed welded.

Needed alittle more than a weld but got it fixed. Had to delete the piece of track then hit undo then weld on both ends. The wsol was a little harder but same issue

I thought I just welded mine but it was long ago but it is back to broke again because of all the updates and cache clearing I have done.

Also I think you could just zip the files up and let the patch be manually installed. Those of us that have a mod folder set up can add it in there and just run the mod insert everytime we update/verify the cache.

I tried to upload in via the library page but said wrong type of file or to big. it is a .zip file and just over 1 meg. any suggestions?

(hsctrackfix.zip)
That is not a valid file type (application/zip) or file size too big!

I also have one to remove the extra buffers in the middle of the tracks on the WCML In Glasgow Central Station.

As soon as I figure out what the issue with the uploading is I will have them up.
