The folks at NERW are now at work on their second route. It's a great team effort.

The NERW's second route is using the DEM Michael Stephan made for the first RWA Community route. That project died after 2 months and 2 people working on it. The second person could never get it loaded. After it sat for a year, I asked Michael if I could use the DEM, he was glad it would get used and we started in on it. You might see it by the end of the year.

Is it fictional or real?

I haven't done terrain but I like laying track. I've been playing with Marias Pass track and trackrule and can do easements and gradients very well. I would like to be part of this.

Sounds great, allow me to built the metropolis area, but is there any decent lofted power lines as well.

Perhaps make General Transport the community route if you like.

Also, I'll make some custom buildings to go with the metropolis section.

It might require a ton of buildings, so I'll be using everything I've made to date and will make a ton more, so I'm not sure how long it might take to finish putting the metropolis part of the route together.

However, can someone else lay the tracks, for the metropolis part you might see giant yards and giant mainline sections, such as 5 or more track running beside each other for miles.

Anyone with an attention span of 6 months or more is welcome. I had it open to the public at NERW and we had 14 people at one time, but their attention spans were only a few weeks and some reneged before they even tried anything, we are down to 6 guys now. And several hundred downloaded the starting out files. So I took it out of the public eyes. I don't need people who are just looking for a new route, I need people who are willing to learn and keep working until completion.

IMO big giant yards are a waste of energy. You can't begin to fill them up and if you do they kill the frame rates so bad that that they become unrunable.

Mdurdan... I would recommend that you take the same advice I gave Sarah. Its OK to start small.

If you want more people to participate then give them a four adjacent tiles along the track that they can do with what they want. Call it a "Mad-libs" of route building.

I submit that only folks with deficit disorder really think we need more routes right now. I probably spend as much time in game as anyone and can get immersed in a great route like the NERW, C&P, Connellsville, or Marias Pass for a month or more. Enjoy what we have people! If this gets stale then we need to do more, but that day is certainly not now.

Is that an excuse? And do we really need to know? I have diabetes and glaucoma, but I am not proud to tell everyone about it all the time.

Not trying to insult anyone I am just expressing my opinion which is still allowed here even tho not accepted many places anymore. I think the "we must have more, we must have new every week" is not only not needed but makes a less than total experience for folks. Exploring these fine routes and multitude of cars and engines is lost if you just must find something new every day.

Many of us have many issues believe it or not. These issues are just not brought to this forum because it has nothing to do with trains or train simulation. Opinions are like, well you all know, and are openly allowed here. Rarely is offense meant but so easy to be taken in online forums. I would not hold out hopes that political correctness in going to break out here as long as Bob and I are involved however if I offended I apologize. My comments were meant to be sincere. If I said them in-artfully , for that I am sorry.

Not from me! !**duh*!! Anyway there's no need to lock this up. We all have our deficits and disorders. We learn how to live with them. Some of us are still learning how to deal with it. It doesn't mean we're retarded and it doesn't mean we were raised wrongly, and it is FOR SURE not an excuse. It just means we sometimes need things done differently so we understand. It's a mental disorder! And of all people, Like mike just said, I've noticed bob has been the harsh one on things like that.

Okay now back in topic. For a community-built route, I would be in favor of a non fictional route. Not that we don't have enough, but it would offer some experience and skill building to noobs (new guys) like me.

If you don't want comments about your disorders, don't post about them in a public forum. Simple eh?
