ScaleRail track turn radius

Unread postby davedingler » Sat Apr 06, 2013 11:49 am

Hi All,

I'm in the process of building a new route in SE Texas and have cretated the routing using RWDecal/Google paths. The problem I am having is trying to match the curvature of the track as displayed by the Google Earth to that of the Scale Rail trackrule program. The radii of the Scail Rail trackrsule is too large to match the displayed curve. Other Trackrules such as San Bernadino(sp) seem to match pretty close.

Is there a way to modify the track rule of ScaleRail to match those of the SanB' ?

Thanks,

Dave

Yes you can but there are problems by doing that. If you plan on releasing the route to the masses, you should take a Scalerail bin and rename it to your route. Then your route will only use that file and you can include it with the route. Open up the xml and there you can see where you can change the radius to suit.

Thanks Krellnut,

The only area of the xml file for trackrules that I can find relating to min radius is what I copy below:
"+<MainLineTrackLimits>- -<YardTrackLimits> -<iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits> <MaxSpeedTolerance d:type="sUInt32">10</MaxSpeedTolerance> <MinRadius d:type="sUInt32">188</MinRadius> </iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits> </YardTrackLimits> -<PassengerTrackLimits> -<iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits> <MaxSpeedTolerance d:type="sUInt32">70</MaxSpeedTolerance> <MinRadius d:type="sUInt32">111</MinRadius> </iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits> </PassengerTrackLimits> -<FreightTrackLimits> -<iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits> <MaxSpeedTolerance d:type="sUInt32">20</MaxSpeedTolerance> <MinRadius d:type="sUInt32">242</MinRadius> </iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits> </FreightTrackLimits>

Is this the area that I modify? And do I need to remame any other files to create my route trackrule?

Thanks,

Dave

You can change the min radius to whatever you want, lay the track, then change it back or to something different, and the track will stay as you laid it. Seriously.

You can also change the track type to "freight" to turn sharper or "yard" to turn the tightest. If that still isn't sharp enough you'll have to resort to editing the track rule.

Thanks all,

I have decided to not use the Scale Rail Trackrules and am using the San Bernardino Trackrule.
