Object Placement...

In MSTS... object placement was substantially improved by using the computer’s number pad. It's been awhile since I’ve done this in MSTS. I don't recall the specifics, other than one could move laterally, longitudinally and rotate the object the shortest distances by selecting the appropriate keys on the number pad (in and out of combination with the ‘CTRL’ key).

In RW 2013, I’m getting what appears to be predetermined distances. I can move an object to point ‘x’, but the next move jumps the object to point ‘z’. When I want to place the object somewhere in between these two points at point ‘y’.

Is such an option allowed in RW 2013?? If so, I'm not finding it.

Hi Bob,

Basic key movements are:

V = Up
B = Down
N = Move toward POV
C = Move away from POV

Hope this helps.

It may help to make your grid overlay a smaller number, or turn the grid off all together at times. World editor seems to like to snap to grid lines when they're on.

Thanx Marc… Duly noted and appreciated.
Chris… also appreciated. How/where do I turn off the grid.

Left bottom fly-out menu, three 'dot' buttons, the one that looks like a little grid square.
'Dot' is on, 'circle' is off.

In addition, F and G keys will rotate your assets clockwise and counter clockwise. All of the usable keys are very handy.

^^^^ agreed, those keys make fine tuning much easier. Really too bad the world editor doesn't come with better documentation.
