My route has 25 miles of single track shortline and will eventually include about 125 miles of single track secondary mainline (the NS S-Line). I think no one started making single line routes way back because for some reason they thought single track passing wasn't possible.

The re-released NS_AND will have plenty of single and double-track action.

As for the future, a lot of railroads, especially in the east, are double-tracking a lot of mainline to handle increased traffic. In the past five years, NS has double-tracked about ten miles of track and installed several passing sidings on the line that runs near my home.

There's a little bit of everything on the COA and growing larger every day. There is one ST section for now, plus the Greenbrier sub is ST. Just this week finished building the ST section down east Alleghany Mtn. to Covington and there's another stretch to do between Covington and Low Moor. Someday when I get to the west end, there's another ST section near Talcott (east of John Henry's tunnel).

I download the COA. Looks great! !!*ok*!! The Mojave Sub, that I know. Hmm, this is gonna be good! I'm gonna play around with Soo Line to see what this baby can do. I got Castle Rock Freight tested. Should be gtg for single Track. If this works, I say go for single tracks. There's plenty of it !!*ok*!!

You might encounter a couple of snags in the installation of the COA due to changes in community offerings over the past year. Until I get those fixed, message me or join us at the COA forum for help. We're shooting for a new version before summer with fixes and much more action.

Tennessee Pass is over 100 miles (maybe? Not sure of exact length. But it's long) of single-track mainline, modeled when it was still an active route of course. It's here in the file library IIRC.
