OK,

SO im getting to the point where IM gonna add in superelevation to an already existing tracwork. I also want to induce cabsway as well. Since I laid it before rw3 came out. I use scalerail. so is there a trackrule that uses superelevation or are there values I need to change inthe trackrul BP? What changes uneveness of track? Wow I havent asked a how to question in a long time lol, I guess theres always something to learn.:)

I think 3DTrains have updated their trackrules to include superelevation, so you could just install over the top. Cabsway doesn't require any .bin editing. Just select track with the track selection tool and set the 'Uneveness' (looks like a squiggle down the bottom of the RH flyout) to whatever you like.

Oh and before you get too excited, do you know how the easements work?

What are easements?

Easements are the transition from straight track to curved. Basically a parabolic curve. A curve still has a fixed radius at it's apex, but is eased into it. In Railworks easements (aswell as being realistic) are needed for smooth transitions into superelevation. If it's not done properly, you'll end up with a highly distorted piece of track where the supereleavation meets the level section.

One piece of advice I have if adding superelevation to existing track... Cut the track well before the curve so there is a node to seperate the superelevated section from the regular section. Do your curve with easement in and out. Then cut the track again and connect back to your existing network with easements turned off.

I'm having to re-lay a lot of COA track in order to add easements. I find it a lot easier to lay track on a R/L route w/o easements! I have a few junctions in curved track; adding SE to those curves made a mess of the track, so I left them flat. I'm using a value of 20 for the wobbly track factor. Adding SE to your currently installed Scalerail blueprint is a matter of changing a value and copying an additional line from another SE enabled blueprint. Still, you have to add (check) the option in the Properties flyout as you lay/edit track to apply it.

I had the same dilema with two junctions on curves on my route, but when did some research I discovered that most real life junctions aren't superelevated anyway (aside from high-speed lines). I found tons of pictures on lines where for the most part the line is superelevated but flattens out for curved junctions, so what you have done probably is prototypical anyway.

That video did the trick. I don't do any route but I'm thinking of giving one a try. 50 miles maybe. There's 1 video from G Scale I want to give it a shot.

I don't think so. I am re-laying all of it that I can.

Nope. You'll need to cut out the whole curve and replace it.

That's what I had to do - relay a 70-mile route. The benefit was that past experience made for fewer mistakes and better track.

Good thing I haven't done much! Only 4 or 5 miles.
