Major Setback

Unread postby SCLALINE » Sat Dec 29, 2012 11:14 pm

Well i have succeeded in hosing my route big time, was piddling with the signal scripts, and did a defrag of the hard drive and that's it, now sections of track are missing, ive tried a backup tracks.bin and then all the track was gone, i have done a verify integrity, re installed scalerail, but all of the switches are either missing track or no switches at all, so i am taking a break but this bugs the heck out of me, i have no idea what i did, i may have to relay everything which probably would be better as i have learned a lot since the beginning and it may be better
taking a couple of weeks off, if anyone has any ideas please let me know

This has happened to me twice. When you hover over where the track should be do you still get the red outline of the track sections?

What about if you use the track selection tool?

If there's still the track ribbon there but just not track showing, it's not a big problem at all.

Wait, if your backups aren't working the problem may not be with your route but with the sim.
Send a backup to someone else and see if it works on their computer.

Ok i think i will just redo the route from Scratch, this may be the best way to go since especially the new gradient feature was released, so ill just sort it out, definately a corrupt tracks.bin file but i will back up after every session now in a more organized way

NO WAY! !*hp*!
That's really upsetting news. Watching the progress of your route was amazing.
I hope you can figure out what happened. You have a great talent for capturing the Florida and SCL feeling in your work.
Sorry that has happened. !!**sorry**!!

That's not ideal. *!sad!*

Did you replace the track tile files as well as the tracks.bin from your backup? You've only specifically mentioned the tracks.bin, so it may still be that case that you can retrieve something if you swap the whole lot over.

Fingers crossed.

With a pair of travelers at each windowpane.
I may sit beside you all the journey through,
Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

Package up your route and download a separate fresh install of ts2013 then load your route on.
I had all but given up route building until I tried this. I now have a separate install just for my route and have had no problems since then.
Frontrunner in the file library now!
