When I first started writing scenarios for RailSim (ancient days, kiddies), I, too, thought I would need route maps and began devising methods of producing same, most of which involved converting screenshots of 2D map screens into printable track diagrams. After wasting far too much time on such projects, I realized that the 2D map screens already fulfilled my needs within the program itself, with no need to waste paper, ink, or my time. Once the editor is open, all the maps needed by a scenario writer are at hand in both 2D and 3D views. Try it and I think that you'll see what I mean.
Enjoy!
