Dummy Signals??

Dummy Signals??

Unread postby artimrj » Wed Oct 31, 2012 4:01 pm

Was rolling along in a yard on Sherman Hill and my F4 showed a signal in the middle of the yard. Hit CONTROL E and went to the world editor. There was not signal in site. Pulled up the track toolbox and went to signals and there is new named signal called DUmmy Yard Signal. So I grabbed it and placed on on the screen. It is a shrub. A small tumble weed shrub. And has a gizmo to connect to the track. I am assuming this is for us to "block" yards up? So we can run AI in them while we are in them. I did not check to see if it could be added during scenerio construction and will have to look. This might just the thing we needed for AI to work better. Some of these routes have huge yards with only a signal at each end, thus you can only have one engine with a driver in the whole yard. Signal break the yard up in to blocks so AI can work, but yards should not be full of signals so these dummies...hmmmm.

Isn't this the same as burying the signal? !*don-know!*

I guess yes it could be. I never buried a signal though. I couldn't figure out what you did if it was red? or how you knew. The dummy on Sherman does not seem affect the player train. Plus you get a scenery item of a scrub.

As Bob guessed, the dummy signal is for running AI or the player into spurs and sidings so that other AI can pass to their destinations. They have no usefulness outside running AI-featured scenarios.

Sounds good to me. I had the same issue with burying a signal... a player getting a SPAD from a signal they can't see. So what happens if this "'bush" is "red" and you drive past it?

It pounces on you and ... hmm, maybe that only happens in the Amazon.

I don't believe that it has any color value - it only indicates to AI that the track is either AI or player-occupied.
