Whistle regulations
Posted: Fri Jan 15, 2010 11:16 amIn the November, 2009 Trains magazine they gave the US federal regulations for whistle blowing. I had not seen this before and thought others might be interested.
Locomotive engineers must begin their whistle sequence 15 to 20 seconds before entering a crossing. For fast trains, they must begin a quarter mile before the crossing.
