converting .dem data used to make MSTS routes to SRTM data for RW

Unread postby deepsouthrailfan » Tue Apr 17, 2012 12:36 pm

I found my dem files that I used for my Meridian Speedway route in MSTS and would like to try and recreate the route for RW. The problem is these files are not .bil files, so they cannot be converted using the BILxSRTM convertor.

The files read like this #######.dem.sdts.tar and inside this file is several files named ####****.DDF (to clarify the # are numbers and * are letters).

Is it possible to convert these files for use in RW and if so how?

Thanks,
Randy

Why do you want to use old data? It may be possible to import this into MicroDem, and then output it in BIL format, but why not go to the USGS seamless server and download new NED 1/3 arcsec data in BIL format? Then with ReDem you can convert it directly to terrain tiles.
