Help with new route

Unread postby woodbrdge » Tue Feb 28, 2012 9:49 pm

I am just starting out with Railworks 3 route creation. I've been able to successfully create my route and get my route path to appear (series marker). I've also been able to import dem data into the route.

I am having a problem which I can't figure out. When I import terrain my route starting location icon (the big orange icon) is located underground relative to the terrain. If I look upwards I can see my route path. When I move my view above the terrain I no longer see the route path because it is now underground.

How do I get it so that the starting location icon appears above the terrain?
How do I get the route path to appear above the ground?
Do I need to import the dem data for the entire route in order to get the route path to appear above the ground?
Is there a way to determine the elevations of your terrain?

Any ideas on what I'm doing incorrectly? **!!bang!!** If so, please share.

I tried layin some track on the tile before importing terrain, but that just resulted in all of the track being underground once I imported my dem data.

Thanks!

You can lift the scenario icon like any other object by clicking on it and dragging it up or holding down 'B'. I can't help with the route path because I don't use route paths. I use RWDecal which superimposes the satelite images from Google Earth onto the terrain and you just plonk track down where you see it. I highly recommend it.
