Streetlamps and traffic lights?

Unread postby hefy_jefy » Thu Jan 19, 2012 4:58 pm

Does anyone know of any US-type streetlights and traffic lights for RW3? I have hunted everywhere, the choice in RW3 is very limited and there doesn't seem be much elswehere either, I am not worried about them "lighting up" (although I must say that the lighting in RW3 is way cool) and I would not object to a token payment either.
I may be forced to try and make some but the hoops that need to be jumped in order to import a simple 3D object from say Gmax or SketchUp are a bit daunting to a non code-head. I looked at Blender but didn't find a well documented method of exporting to RW3, maybe I am missing something?
On a more general note there seems to be a shortage of scenery objects for RW3 compared with say Flight Simulator or Trainz, both of which have userfriendly add-ons for export from 3DS,Gmax and SketchUp.
I am recent convert from MS Flight Sim, where I have made hundreds of simple objects that were designed for a specfic airport. I think RW3 is very very cool, especially the original UK stuff, which was what first caught my attention, but it does lack a few bits of ordinary scenery.

Google is your friend.

This works, I have used it:
How to Get a Simple Box from Blender into RailSimulator and RailWorks

This too. It even has blender source files.
NAUER FT-1000 LARGE DUMP TRUCK

The essential part is the bigex igs exporter that you must download from UKTrainsim.com. This can take a while if you're not a premium member.

Possibly, but there are still hundreds of scenery items available. They're just not always distributed as scenery add-ons. Lots of them are in DLC routes, and you can find them by browsing your railworks file structure.

Guys - thanks. I am going to give Blender a try; the documents look to be about my level of understanding *!embar*!
I guess I just don't look in the right places!
