Weeds growing up thru ballast on HSC Main Line

In starting a new route, I chose HSC and for track chose HSC Main. Unlike a main line, I get weeds coming up through my ballast and ties-I hope not very prototypical!

Not sure what I'm not doing wrong, so any and all help would be appreciated!

Did you paint the roadbed instead of laying the track on grass? lots of grass terrain textures have procedural flora.

*!embar*! Hi, thanks, no I did not, and am not sure how to do that.

Is it in the paintbrush section?

One more question about painting, can I paint "over" the track that has been laid?

Thanks again!

It is the paintbrush yes, and it only works on the landscape, not anything you've dropped on top.

You should turn procedural flora off in the graphics settings. It makes a mess of scenery and it kills frame rates.

Thanks NDORFN!

I tried to find on the settings where I could turn off the flora, however I must be on the wrong menu as there was no selection for that.

The screen I was on was the screen you get after selecting "play" from the Steam screen, it had several tabs at the top including "Package" and "Package Manager".

When I clicked on "Settings", there was no option specifically concerning flora. Is there another graphics settings area?

Thanks for all your help,
Rick

There are some graphics setting in the actual game. Load the game and have a hunt around for the graphics settings where the "Drive by route" etc... menu is.

On my home computer now so can tell you where to find it... Load the game a click "Options" -> "Graphical detail" and untick "Procederal flora".

You might have to select "custom" in order to access the procedural flora box.

No, don't need Custom settings. You just have to go to the in game settings screen, as NDORFN said. It's not in the settings in the RW launch screen. Just in game. Stupid having two settings screens, IMHO of course. !*not-ok*!

Might point out that if you are doing route building, you should have procedural flora 'ON.' Otherwise, you will not see exactly the problem that you pointed out at the beginning of this thread.

The way to get rid of the weeds, etc., pushing up through the track is to paint the track area with a 'non-procedural' or 'non-flora' ground texture.

I use procedural flora all over the place on my route, but along the track, I have to use a 'bare grass' or some other such non-flora texture.

Dick, try just putting the "Master Detail Level" on High. Because with those settings you have now, your detail level is at 8. You will be and are missing a lot of objects.
