I understand how to set speed limits, how about setting them for freight vs passenger?
Is that possible?
Not sure I am 100% clear on Primary Speed Limit and Secondary Speed Limit.
How does the Sim know the difference between freight and passenger trains?

Primary is passenger, secondary is freight. And the sim knows because if you have passenger cars in the train, it assumes it's a passenger train, same with freight. They're defined in the script, I suppose as being a freight or passenger car, the same way it doesn't let you load passengers with a boxcar.

As far as I noticed scripting scenarios, the use of primary and secondary speed limits is related to the type (service class) of consist, not exactly to the type of cars used. You can assign a whole freight container train as Special, and it will run at the primary passenger (higher) speed, instead at the freight secondary (lower) speed. In UK railways, there are also tracks designed specially for diferent passengers and freights service classes.

basically it knows what kind of speeds to post for you run smoothly when you create teh scenario and choose your consist type, between special ( HST typically) Express Passenger ( long routes with regional consists but gaps between stops (( this may also use the top end speed posting)) ) stopping passenger (as it says on the tin, should really go at lower end speed or half way between both as these are generally busier than normal trains ) freight (again self explanatory) Empty Stock ( freight or consist that doesnt have specific instructions). you should get the idea
