Hello Group,

Is there a way of painting ballast using the ScaleRail ballast? I would like to extent the ballast texture to beyond the roadbed in certain places. Thank you!

No, you can't extend it just by painting; what you'd have to do is make a new roadbed loft and use the scalerail ballast texture on it.
