Trying again

Unread postby SCLALINE » Sun Oct 02, 2011 2:40 pm

Hello All,

well its been a while since i posted, but since RW3 is out, im going to give it another go on the Jacksonville Division
the last work was lost after a catastrophic hard drive crash, dumb me hadn't backed up like i should **!!bang!!**
progress will be slow as i drive an 18 wheeler 6 weeks out of the month and my time is limited

started on the DEM today, using ASTER GDEM, looks pretty good so far

also the lack of foliage has been solved as i found some really good textures for local Pines, Palmettos, and even Orange Trees - yes i will have orange groves :)

i am using RW decals, previously i was laying sections and doing the scenery as i go along, should i keep doing that or should i lay all the track and then come back and do the scenery?

will keep you posted and yes i have a huge USB hard drive to back up now :) !*YAAA*!

Those look great.

Are you planing on making forward facing trees, or models?

i need to find some good examples for models - i can do forward facing less overhead - also i need to find out how to tackle telegraph pole wire lofts, there are no good tutorials on it and i have no idea where to begin

Mmh, oranges! !!*ok*!! (Optional) forward facing models would be much appreciated, so we can go nuts with asset block tool. !*YAAA*!

The telegraph lofts are also available as models with 3D-shape wires attached, trickier placement but much better looks. Let me know if I can send you the 3DC file for inspection if you want to model your own telegraph or power lines.

Cheers,
Michael

i have the Charts for Moncrief, UCETA (Tampa) and Yeoman (Tampa) and actually the track charts north of Moncrief but i wish i had all the new charts
i do have a book that gives every signal, crossing, siding etc

alot of operating possibilities with this one, 3 Inter-modal Terminals, rock train operations, Amtrak, Several Coal fired power plants which i will eventually model,
Sometimes the Juice train comes through (I may model tropicana in bradenton as i have been inside the plant)
then there is the phosphate operation in Bone Valley

usually i watch at Moncrief from the foot bridge on the east side, but not in the evening as you may get your car stolen or get shot, not a nice neighborhood
