Queen Mary Island Railroad

In light of the positive feedback given in the Any Route Any Era 2023 thread (thank you all for the kind words *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*), I'm sending out this small coastal Canadian route as a bit of a Christmas gift.

More than anything, this route is a showcase of a few techniques I've been working on recently. In taking some notes on route production lately, I have discovered a few things:

- The Boston and Albany has fantastic ground textures. Thus, it's the basis for the route.
- Horseshoe Curve is a nice route, but has become superfluous with the other routes I am able to use for models and textures.
- It's okay to not detail everything far from the tracks, especially if blocked with vegetation or buildings. This helps a great deal with FPS, especially if people don't have advanced PC builds.

The premise of the route is simple: a once large island railroad owned by Canadian National has been almost entirely abandoned, except for a small stub servicing a wood products facility in the town of Bisque Bay. The line has been handed over to a new shortline equipped with an Alco S2 and EMD G12. The addition of a steel transload and interest from other businesses along the former railroad line provides hope for the future of the line, but for now the railroad operates within the confines of Bisque Bay's town borders.

And, uh, that's it. At 2 miles or so of trackage (yards, spurs, and barge included) it's itty bitty but sure is pretty. As the readme file and the submission notes will say, you are more than welcome to make any modifications to the route that you want (dare I say you are encouraged to: route building is fun, give it a shot!)

Just need to remove some HSC assets so that the route isn't covered in milk cartons, and this'll be off !!*ok*!!

Thank you for sharing this mini-route. And I now have somewhere to run those CN G12's I picked up from Diesel Workshop.

Buzz... since you're doing repaints, would you be willing to do a couple of idler flat cars for the ferry? Maybe the Great Northerner freeware 40' flat car? I was thinking either oxide red or white with CN or Queen Mary reporting marks. Usually locomotives are not permitted on car ferries because of the weight, and they use idler flat cars to pull or spot cars on the ferry. Plus it would add an interesting operational requirement to the route. Just a thought. Thank you!

Buzz... looks good. Would you be willing to make one minor addition? On the side, could you add the verbiage "Idler Service" (without the quotes)? Otherwise, it is good to go. Thank you again for doing this.

Thank you Buzz. I'm finalizing a free roam switching scenario for this route, and these idler flat cars work great in the scenario. Will you be releasing the QMI G12 and S2 repaints? Thanks!

I just sent them to Chacal. Check your PM in a few if you're working on something.

Some WIP screenshots taken just east of the uploaded route's current terminus. These were taken before Buzz released the QMI G12, so I'll have to download those and give them a try.

Car spawner and I were having a disagreement on the first and second screenshot, it seems. That, or everyone had their cars parked away!
