Trick for getting your own highly-detailed elevation data (sort of)

I do a lot of backpacking and use an app called AllTrails to track and plan my hikes. I started working on a new route and have been trying to access the best SRTM data out there, but as I live close to where I'm modeling, I realized I could take advantage of AllTrails' elevation recording to figure out the exact elevation of key points along the route so long as I can access them, and then I can just set them in the route editor and smooth around them to blend it all together.
