Missing switch ties

Unread postby cnwfan » Sun Aug 14, 2022 3:12 pm

I've run into something that I haven't seen before, but hopefully someone out there has. I've just started replacing the tracks in Zawal's Little Mississippi route with G-Trax's BLE tracks. I did try replacing the track in the Tracks.bin file using TS-Tools along with find/replace. That didn't go so well, so I thought I'd just relay the track using the BLE track. All was going good until I tried to replace my first switch. Then the below happened...

Missing switch ties! The rest of the switch is there, including the switch stand. The switch animation works. It's just those darn switch ties are missing. The strange thing is that if I delete either the diverging or straight route, the ties reappear on the remaining section of track. I've even tried creating a new switch in a different location, and I still get missing ties. I'm using the BLE track rule and BLE track, so this kind of has me stumped. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've had this before. If I recall correctly the fix was to use the 'split' tool on the straight track slightly before the intersecting point of the diverging tracks, then use the 'weld' tool at that point. Save before trying this, and if it doesn't work exit and don't save the changes.

It's an interesting quirk of the BLE tracks. The "mainline" version is intended to be used with a few assets you'll find in the route that are custom-built for certain radii of turnout to get around some of the limitations of the TS switch generation system. I think the route comes with another track type that doesn't do this at turnouts, although you'd have to double check that.

edit: for posterity, the siding track (SA130WS_X) should autogenerate points if you can live with the base of the ballast being considerably shorter. The switch base assets can be found in the signalling assets tab, and come in Nos. 9, 15, and 20 flavors.
