Thurmont and Branford: Third time's the charm (maybe)

Discussion about RailWorks route design.

Thurmont and Branford: Third time's the charm (maybe)

Unread postby Jackplay » Mon Nov 01, 2021 11:35 am

Of all the places where I expected to have free time, college was admittedly not on my list. And yet, I have plenty.
As I sat and tried to figure out what relaxing game I'd play when not playing Battlefield 1, my eyes kept wandering to Railworks, uninstalled and gathering imaginary dust in my Steam library.
So, I reinstalled the game, installed my former route off of the file library, and got back to work. Turns out, building stuff can be pretty relaxing. Who knew?

Thanks! I may have to mess with some of the assets (as I think I accidentally used grass from the London-Brighton Mainline DLC) but that shouldn’t be too hard of a fix.

Do you want some freight car reskins? If so, what time frame? Do you have a logo/herald? I'm ready to help.

Funnily enough, I do.

I think (not sure) that it's hiding somewhere in the Thurmont and Branford 44-Tonner reskin file. I'm currently typing up a T&B history as we speak, so if I come up with any ideas I'll let you know.

That looks really fuzzy. We need to clean that up.

It was made 5 years ago lol
If you'd like to, you are more than welcome to. I doubt Rick would have a problem with it (and if he does I could probably hit him up on Facebook)

Getting closer to the end, working on the small town of Snowfield Mills, on the outskirts of Branford. When I finish up the last city, all that'll be left is fixing the speed limits.

Just one for you guys tonight.

The city of Branford is in the background to the right. I predict it'll be another week before the route is complete.

We're nearly there, guys! Got a lot of detailing around Branford to do, but then I just need to work out the weirdness with the track speeds and it'll be all set.

I had plenty of free time yesterday. The route is done. Well, at least the scenery is.

I ran a test run of the line and found many, many, many speed issues. Especially on the Thurmont city spur: track speeds jumped from 10 to 40, down to 6, and back to 10. So it’ll be a tiny bit before I get that sorted, but then it’ll be ready. I can’t wait to share with you guys the culmination of a mini project that started in 2016!
