Detroit Route? Here we go!

Unread postby georgian22 » Sat Sep 07, 2019 10:03 pm

Hi everyone, the attempt to build this Detroit Route has begun. Although I had lost my previous routes due to MY failure to backup/modify during 64 bit updates, I hope to have better success, this go around. I am still contemplating where to extend (e.g. Detroit to Toledo), I have enough time, as I am bogged down in with the Conrail Utica Industrial Line from Packard Yard to Points South. If you are familiar with the area, or have Google Earth, you can chart my progress. I haven't posted any screenshots in quite some time, so hopefully the links will work. I am not too good in that department, so bear with me.

Take Care!
O'brian

The route is looking great so far!

Lots of old beat up tracks surrounded with brush in the middle of the urban jungle still being used... That's definitely Detroit as I've seen it. !!*ok*!!

So in the early years of this sim there was a member named westdetroit that was creating the whole Detroit Automobile plant route. He had done years of work, then abandoned it,due to his unhappiness with the ability to signal it properly. At on time he had a FB page, and or website dedicated to the route. As a Detroit,Toledo and Ironton fan,I was excited about his work. I wish you well in your efforts.

If this is anything like your past routes, this will be a winner and a keeper. Any sort of route map yet?

Thank you all for your compliments! Positive feedback definitely is appreciated! I haven't posted a map, but will, when I finish this the Utica Industrial Branch. That branch is labor intensive. will post a pic of the Van Dyke Plant.

Thanks! the many plants, really are time consuming. Here is the Chrysler Plant in Sterling Heights. I am starting to have one of those " it seemed like a good idea to build this route at the time!" lol

What assets are you using for this so far?

O'brian -- you sure did a good job working on your new route and I really like your route around Detroit. Look forward to see the release of your route when it's available in your time not mine or others too.

As always, I am most appreciative for everyone's assistance, and Bob and Buzz for allowing me an opportunity to share with this community! As a former Engineer and Conductor, I never thought I would be building routes; I walked enough rocks and sure do not miss the procedure for correcting a slewed drawbar on autoracks and flatcars in a curve. Got my fair share lol!
