Route loads but no tracks

Unread postby xxuntitledxx » Sat Jun 15, 2019 12:20 am

Hey all,

So got the route to load but no trackwork is showing up.
Tracks.bin files show tracks but the tracks are not showing up in the route itself
The Tracks Network file also has tracks shown
I tried replacing the Tracks.bin file and the route errored out...anyway to fix a bad Track.bin file?

Any help is appreciated :D

Which route?

Do the track assets exist in the assets folder and the used trackrules?

Maybe you should run logmate and capture a log to see what it tries to load.

It's possible that the provider has been unchecked in the adjacent flyout window. You haven't stated exactly what track type you're using, but when did it last load and have you made any changes in the editor since then?

Did some experimenting and was able to find a good Tracks.bin file and restored track work back to where it was about 98%. But the additional track was in an area I still need to work on. So no big deal. I can replace it with no issues.

Thanks for the input everyone! :D

Now to save save save and make sure I keep a good copy at hand.

Dud you pinpoint the cause of the issue though?

It's nice when we make a unexpected find that reduces repetition of route building tasks, but being able to determine the exact cause will surely be of assistance to you. We all learn from our mistakes.

I know it was a bad Track.bin file, didn't get the chance to see where the error happened. I'd have to open the bad file and comb through it with my reader. I'm thinking it might have been during a save I was doing, or when I adjusted a set of tracks that i noticed mysteriously dropped below ground level. Then realized that 20 mils of track had regraded itself automatically. Tried to revert it, but that's when the error occurred. *shrugs*

Windows backup should be able to help you in this regard. Although manually backing up files is still useful.

To use the backup, you right click the content folder for the route and check for previous versions (with an internet connection). It should bring up some backed up items from within the last two weeks at least. Still better than losing months of work due to a fault with the game.

Windows 10 Requires a separate drive for backup, which i don't have configured at the moment, so I've been doing manual backups. I took a break from the route editing this weekend, so starting tomorrow I'm going to jump on the scenery building again. So I'll make on more backup before I start manually and then go on from there.
