Zipping up a new route

Unread postby kylewoody » Sat Jun 17, 2017 9:46 am

Hey guys,

I've tried to package my route using the Utilities.exe but it keeps crashing on me. Cant I just zip the route folder itself directly and that would work for other people when using it? I.E., right now my route is located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\acfeaab1-a68a-489c-9e1b-c3e566369817

If I zip the entire "acfeaab1-a68a-489c-9e1b-c3e566369817" folder, which has "Route Information", "Scenarios", "Terrain", etc. folders this should work fine for someone who downloads it correct? I'm not missing any other files/folders hidden away somewhere else that folk would need?

Then, someone downloads it and extracts that "acfeaab1-a68a-489c-9e1b-c3e566369817" folder to their Content/Routes folder, should work fine (assuming they have all the required assets)?

Thanks!

Yes you are correct. Everything will work fine if you do that. I've done it quite a few times already.

There is probably a TemplateRoutes lurking around somewhere in your assets also.

Kyle, That's all fine and dandy as long as the person that extracts your zip has the assets folders you used plus the same template route folder, otherwise I doubt it will load properly. You may need to let the new user know what assets and base template you used when you developed and during the initial creation of the route. Just because someone owns TS 2017 or earlier versions doesn't mean they own the proper route assets or template that you used for your route.

If they don't have all the route assets all it will do is show is milk bottles where the missing assets are placed. The route will still load.

Thanks guys, I have listed the assets for it though, should be good on that front.

It should be uploading the library here (Saluda Grade), if anyone snags it and finds out it is missing something, I'll throw out an update for it.
