(1) Back in my MS Flight Sim days, there was a company that offered entire states of DEM data. Perhaps someone who is gifted in working with DEM data in Railworks could begin offering full states of data in a simple installer package. This would be a huge asset to prospective route builders. Costs would vary according to the amount of DEM data in the package.

(2) Another suggestion would be DEM data packages produced on consignment. Let's say I wanted to model the former Columbia, Newberry and Laurens in South Carolina. I would contract with a developer to produce the necessary DEM data, complete with markers, in a simple installer. I write and arrange music for bands and ensembles on much the same basis and it produces a nice side income.

So, there you have it. Free enterprise at it best -- a la Railworks!
