New Commuter Route

Unread postby benny335 » Wed Jul 01, 2015 2:11 pm

Hi everyone,
So I've been working on modifying Michael Stephan's Industrial Interactive Route for quite some time now. I have converted it to a passenger "light" commuter route.
Route Features:
This is a fictional route with modifications based off of the North County Transit District's (NCTD) Sprinter Route located in north San Diego County. The route is about 10-15 Miles long and takes approximately 20 minutes from one end to the other. The route includes 95% double tracking, reworked signalling, 7 fully detailed stations and one main equipment yard. The stations are as follows: Escondido Transit Center, River Dale, Downtown Center, Plaza/Home & Garden, Oceanside, Pinewood, and Oak Ridge Transit Center. Something that is important to know is that all of the station platforms have been designed to specifically accommodate the VT642 Desiro to ensure level boarding. (This train is available for purchase from http://www.rsslo.com)
So yeah, here are some pictures of the route so far. Let me know what you think :)

*This route was not created by me. It was created by Michael Stephan. I only take credit for the modifications.

Looks real good! Is it finished? And are you going to upload it. I have always liked playing on the IRR.

It's very close to being finished! :) I just have finish adding in some signs and fixing some weird speed limit issues and then it'll have the green light!

Would you please post an overview map so we can see how the route interacts with the original IIR.

Hi everybody!
The route is available to download on my website under downloads! There are still some parts that need updating but I wanted to release it so I could get feedback. I will be posting updates when they become available!

Hi,

What a brilliant idea! And very well executed too. Sadly I don't have the U-Bahn route (and not really any interest in it), but I do like what I see on your screenshots. It's so easy to imagine a storyline behind this commuter rail expansion: maybe, after decades of decline in the downtown and industrial areas, the city finally decided it needed to do something about it. In recent years, other cities have proven that establishing new light rail commuter services can boost the economy and improve the living quality. The shortline RR in town, running only a few weekly trips on the remnants of what used to be a proud network of rails serving many now long gone industries, was very happy when city officials approached them with the offer to lease trackage rights and fund a refurbishing/expansion to accomodate a commuter rail. And now this is where you come in, the newly hired engineer on the new IIR (Integrated Interurban Rail Network, lol)

Cheers
Michael

Thanks! :) You know what's funny, you just described my local route near where I live. They did exactly what your story described haha. I really like that Integrated Interurban Rail Network name too haha.
