TS2015 Crossover problem

I hope this is the right place to post this. I am having a problem in route building. Two tracks side by side I click the crossover icon then the track and it won't let me place the crossover. I have watched several youtubes on the subject and search for solutions and have come up empty. I can go into an existing route from DLC and the function works just fine. But when I go to Build route and try and do my own from a route building from scratch it won't let me. Any ideas? Thanks

Yes they are, I don't even get the yellow arrow to appear over the track. It's like the program doesn't recognize the selection.

And both tracks must be the same track rule and track type, class, speed limits etc

and occasionally the program is picky and for no reason at all won't allow it. Try starting the crossover from the opposite end.

All great input thanks, I have checked all of your suggestions so far and same result. I should add that when selecting the crossover icon, the track type (which is same as I am laying) I do not get the red line that you should get up one or both sides of the track. I have tried making the crossover without the crossover tool and the track looks right on the entrance but doesn't look right on the exit of the crossover.

Sounds like the grade was different between the two tracks.

Was the track laid with the track helpers (Snap to Track, Easements, etc.) switched off?

Snap to track and snap to terrain were checked but easements was not checked. I tried it with easements checked and that didn't work either.

I also had the same problem. After turning off snap to track and snap to terrain and making a straight track , I still was unable to build the crossover.
I found I had to click on the CROSSOVER icon in the top left hand box first, then pick the track I am using and I got my crossover to work
