Signal Help

Hello all ,


I am new at RW and I am having some problems with the Signaling with BNSF signals in RW . I can't seem to turn them on and check my work .

I have set my links for my trackwork and Switches .

Any tips would be helpful , I am learn as I go along .

I have sludy Pike's Railworks Signal Tutorial , but I still can't get the signals in my test route to work *!sad!*

I do not believe the BNSF signals work. Try the default ones or some of Pikes.

The BNSF labeled signals don't have their scripts. Try the other signals which are identical in shape and size. They are the current US default signals.

Then, where can I find the scripts ??

can I use the same one for my route as one for Barstow and Castle Rock ??

The scripts aren't available, however, the ones used on the default US routes are the ones named "Tall 2H..." "Short 1H...." "Head 2T" etc. Use these.

Ok.

So what do people do , when they make a route , do they write a new scripts or copy one from default US routes
into the route ??

In Pike's Railworks Signal Tutorial , it uses alot of csx heads .

I would like to know more , could you give me location for default US routes ,
so each head has it own scripts ??

I would like to learn this stuff , before I start to make a route .
any info is welcome

Steven, I think your kind of missing the point. Your using the wrong signals. Use the other signals that have the identical model(shape).

I am changing out the BNSF signals and making sure my links are right .

that really bad that BNSF heads don't work *!sad!*

I think Steven has a legitimate concern!

I have used the default signals to a limited degree of success. !*hp*!

A big problem is trying to properly signal a cross-over point. This is especially true if the turn-outs are of a very gentle degree for high-speed action of a train passing from track to a parallel track...and the turn-outs are not movable automatically in one action - one click should move the points in opposing turn-outs so that the signals will give the proper green light indication - not to lead a train into an opposing turn-out and derail! !**duh*!!

Auran's Trainz signals, while they have some troubles in and of themselves, are infinitely better then RailWorks, in my humble opinion.

As for the BNSF signals not being effective, SHAME ON YOU, RAILWORKS! There is no excuse in presenting then your software if they are not usable! !*not-ok*! !**duh*!! **!!bang!!**

I use Pike's signals in my route, they work better and look better than the defaults. His tutorials are also great stuff. I never tried the defaults. I watched Pike's tutorials (several times) then just downloaded his signals and am using the CSX rules, just like he did in the tutorials and I havent had a problem.

OK, how about a link to where I can get these signals?

What gets me is others have to provide a better product then what RailWorks should have provided in the first place! !*hp*!

It is like my buying a new Chevrolet, but having to go to a second source for an engine that works! Nonsense! !*!grrr!*!

You shouldn't use the BNSF titled signals. Use the other US signals which are exactly the same (and default)

Both are default, and the same type of signal. But the one with BNSF in front doesn't work.

One solution I've found, is to place the 2nd track link on the straight track after the crossover. That way both turnouts have to be set to get a green. otherwise you get a red and have to stop

Personasly I prefer the signals offered by SMM Digital, because of their level of detail and they fit on almost any modern route.

It's best to use the signals that go with your route. Each signal type usually works by different rules.
