Changing track type of a switch

Unread postby BoostedFridge » Tue Aug 26, 2014 8:36 pm

Hi guys,

I've been pushing get a good distance of track laid on my route. My thinking was to lay it all in one type (Scalerail Wooden Ties, Main) then go back after and change the sidings and yard tracks to the appropriate track. To do so, I've been using the select tool, then highlighting the track I want to change, then selecting it from the flyout menu on the right side. When I do this, the majority of the track will change type, but not the actual junction/switch itself. (see picture below) Is there a proper method to do this, or do you HAVE to lay the junction with the proper track type the first time?

Any help would be appreciated

I don't know of a "proper" method but there are (at least) 2 ways to swap out the switch models:

1. (easiest for swapping all switch stands) use RWTools to find/ replace the geometry

2. cut/ weld on each switch stand - but - the TrackRule selected must call for the stand you want displayed. (Don't worry about mis-matched trackrules as long as you don't lay any actual track and just cut/weld)
