Manipulating Asset position in the editor

Hi guys,

Is there an easier way to align objects (like sections of bridge deck) with track, than manually dragging them to line them up? Also, is there any key shortcuts (like F and G) for fine tuning the grade or slope of the same type of asset? I'm trying to 'assemble' a bridge on my Siskiyou line using some of the bridge assets from Donner pass. The bridge is on a 3%+ grade, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the bridge sections to line up, and be on the same gradient.

Any help would be appreciated!

The tab key is an important aid for this. When placing an object, bring it near the track, and press the tab key. You will see it spin around and align with the track, both in slope and direction. This only works when initially placing an object - ie not when moving it later.

Also, if the alignment is wrong, ie out by 90 degrees etc, just use the rotator gadget to move it manually after placement.

Also -

F & G to nudge rotation

B & V to nudge altitude

C & N? to nudge toward/ away from camera

ctrl + using rotation gizmo locks movement to 15 degree increments

shft + gizmo slows movement (except at certain camera angles where everything goes haywire)

Another tool that may be helpful is the Align tool:

align.jpg

If you click it, then click one building, then another, it aligns the first building to face the same way as the second.

Right click to exit the align mode.

You could use this to line up bridge bents etc after they have been placed.
