DEM loading

Unread postby cnw1970 » Tue Aug 12, 2014 9:49 pm

I have my hgt files in my SRTM folder, but when I try to import terrain there is a flash on the screen like it's trying to load the terrain, but nothing changes. The hgt files are the correct files for the location, and my route coordinates are right. Also, when the window pops up to load the srtm data, there are choices like 1x1, 3x3, 9x9 ect.. Can anyone explain the meaning of those. I've tried each one trying to get my srtm loaded into my route.

What resolution of DEM are you using? I believe that TS2014 can only handle 1 arc second DEM, which is 1 .hgt file per lat/long grid square. To get higher resolution DEM (1/3, 1/9) into TS2014 you need to use a program called 'Redem' by Zugware.

BoostedFridge thanks for the advise. The 1 arc second data loaded with no problems.

I'm glad to help. It wasn't that long ago that I was bashing my head against a wall with the same problem.
