There has got to be an easier way

There are places I want to hit exactly. Grade track crossing for one. i also want to make several long straight lines and end up right.

I can get the start of my long straight sections but then the slightest off set along the line makes it almost impossible to get back on track. I end up with curvy track and lots of S type curves

I followed a Tutorial from this Forum and made my curves to get started. This gave me my first piece of straight track. But as I said once I hit a little jog in the line everything else is so far off. I know that in the overall scheme of things that the map that shows up will be what I make it so a few meters off here and there is no big deal. So with that in mind i made the two straights I needed and then I couldn't get them to join.

Any thoughts on the matter?

There is a thread in which Hertsbob explains his method and he is the track guru at RSC so he should know.

Thanks, that is the one I tried and using that I can get my first one going straight. Go have a couple things to try. I can get two straight pieces going so the problem is joining those two. I did it before I got terrain in and everything was flat so I am going to try making everything at the same height and then adjust elevations.
